Damage Calculator
The bucket model as a calculator: every input maps to a stat-screen number, and the output shows exactly which multiplier did what.
How it works
base = weapon × skill% × (1 + mainStat/1000) addBkt = 1 + additive%/100 vuln = 1 + 0.20 + vulnBonus/100 [baseline VERIFY] crit = 1.50 + critBonus/100 plain = base × addBkt critVuln= plain × vuln × crit expected= plain × (1 + cc·(crit−1)) × (1 + vu·(vuln−1))
Baseline vulnerable is 20% and baseline crit is 50% in the community model [VERIFY per season]. Enemy-specific multipliers (elite damage, Fortify, berserking) fold into the additive field. Full derivation: methodology.
FAQ
What are "buckets" in Diablo IV damage?
Groups of bonuses that multiply together. Primary attribute is its own bucket, vulnerable another, critical damage another, and the many additive affixes (core skill %, close damage, CC damage…) share one bucket. Bonuses in the same bucket add; buckets multiply — which is why spreading bonuses across buckets beats stacking one.
Why do my numbers differ from in-game?
Blizzard's exact formula is unpublished and has shifted between seasons. This model covers the documented buckets with editable constants — it excels at build-vs-build comparison, while absolute numbers can drift. See the methodology for every assumption.
What is the expected hit?
Your average hit accounting for crit and vulnerable probabilities: non-crit damage plus the crit and vulnerable multipliers each weighted by their chance. Rotation and DPS math should always use the expected number.
